Butter and Parsley Pull-Apart Bread

Updated: Sep 21

I am obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED with this pull-apart bread. Not only was it stupidly easy to make, but it was so flavorful and I cannot wait to make this again. I love bread, cheese, and parsley, and to marry them all together is just *chef's kiss. This takes 30 mins tops to make, and by the end, you're devouring every bite.

Now if you want to be fancy and step it up a notch, you can make the pizza dough by hand. If you go my route, which is equal parts convenience and laziness, you'll buy pizza dough 😊. Another fun thing about this is the shapes you can make, the more popular ones are a wreath and a tree. For the holidays, I made the tree sans the star, which was beautiful. The point is to make sure the dough balls are touching, for the effect to pull it apart. Pairing this with some marinara sauce is so delicious, and trust me you'll be devouring this within minutes.

On with the show!

Pull Apart Bread

Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 25 mins

Ingredients:

  • 2 Pillsbury pizza crust dough

  • 10 mozzarella sticks, cut into 3s

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 1 egg, whisked

  • 1 tablespoon of parsley, fresh or dried

  • 1 cup of marinara sauce, warm for dipping

  • optional: 1/2 cup of mixed cheeses, like sharp cheddar and mild cheddar for topping

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a pan with a silicone baking mat, as this is easier for you to transfer the final product onto a dish or tray.

  2. Open the Pillsbury dough can, and line on a cutting board. Ensure you are stretching out the dough as much as you can, without tearing or thinning.

  3. We want rectangles of dough, so cut vertically down the middle a few times (about 4-5 lines should do), and then cut horizontally once across. This should give you the rectangle shape you need.

  4. Take each mozzarella stick and cut it into 3. Add one piece into the rectangle pizza dough, and fold each piece of the dough on top of it, like wrapping paper. Then take that dough, roll it into the palm of your hands until it has become a ball, and make sure the mozzarella stick isn't exposed.

  5. Add each piece of ball onto the lined pan, into whatever shape you desire. Repeat the steps by creating balls of dough and adding them to the pan.

  6. Once completed, take your whisked egg and with a basting brush, brush the egg wash over the dough until completely covered.

  7. Bake for 25 mins, or until browned.

  8. Once removed from the oven, take the melted butter, and brush onto the pizza dough until covered. add your parsley seasoning and sprinkle cheese on top.

  9. Immediately serve with the marinara sauce.

  10. Bon Appetit!
