Phoebe Buffays Grandmother's Secret Cookie Recipe đŸȘ

Updated: Feb 8

As a Friends fanatic, I am grateful to Phoebe for bestowing her grandmother's chocolate chip cookie recipe to us, or so she thought 😂 I've always been fascinated with the delectable food (edible or not) that TV shows and movies present to us. Like the trifle from Friends or pumpkin pasties from Harry Potter, I find ways to recreate it to see what it would taste like.

*Lina's- My favorite cookie in Paris ♄

Cookies are one of my favorite desserts, but my gosh have I eaten many garbage ones. I'm not too fond of crunchy cookies; in an ideal world, they are soft and chewy and melt in your mouth. My favorite chocolate chip cookie I have ever eaten was from Lina's in Paris. There was a chocolate chip in every single bite, with surprise walnuts, and I think about that cookie daily. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a cookie as delicious as that, which is why I enjoy homemade ones.

With my love for cookies, shockingly I don't make cookies enough and I don't know why that is, but 2024 is the year that'll change!

Giant cookies, like the ones I've made, have a longer baking time. If you are choosing to make normal-sized ones, they will bake for 10-12 minutes. This recipe reflects the giant size, so the baking time is much longer than you might think.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prep time: 25 mins Cook time: 20 mins

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, unsalted

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • pinch of salt

  • 2 1/2 cup AP flour

  • 1 1/2 bags of dark chocolate chips or dark chocolate bars broken into pieces

Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Take 2 large baking sheets, and line them with a silicone mat.

  2. Add your sugars, butter, and cream together using a KitchenAid or mixer, and the paddle attachment for about 3-4 mins on a setting of 2-4.

  3. While the mixer is going, in a separate bowl, add the flour, baking soda powder, and salt and mix with a whisk.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time to the wet mixture until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix.

  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix well until combined. Then add your chocolate chips and fold them in well.

  6. For the large cookies, use gloves, take about a spoonful and a half, and roll into your hands lightly. Add onto your tray, and spread fairly apart.

  7. Bake for about 12-15 mins. Check once to make sure the cookie is cooked in the middle. If it needs more time, bake for 5 min increments. You do not want to overbake, so make sure you keep an eye out.

  8. Once baked, let cool for 10ish mins.

  9. Bon Appetit!
